And these are to have students be informed consumers of scientific information. In our information rich society we need to make decisions not based on media hype, but on scientific facts, and in some cases well supported theories. Students need to have the vocabulary and critical thinking skills that allow them to be thoughtful in making career, purchasing, and voting decisions.
