Test in all six subject areas over the junior and senior year
Tests on three subjects, and not more than four, must be taken
at Higher Level, others at Standard Level.
One or two subject tests may be taken in the junior year by anticipated
IB candidates at the Standard Level only.
Remaining subjects are tested at the end of senior year.
No exams may be taken before the junior year.
All candidates must test in the five core subjects: English, Science, Math,
Individuals & Society, Second Language, and one IB elective.
Each exam paper is scored on a seven point scale. Four or above is passing.
Final exam scores are a combination of internal assessments and the individual
exam papers for that subject area.
Students must earn a minimum of 24 total points in the six subject area exams.
Students must earn a minimum of 27 total points to obtain the IB Diploma - accued by points earned from the 6 subject area exams as well as up to 3 bonus points earned from the Extended Essay and TOK.
Diploma candidates
cannot earn an elementary score in either TOK or Extended Essay; doing so automatically
denies the diploma. Failure to complete either of these components denies a candidate the opportunity to earn the IB diploma. Bonus points do not make up for a failing score on an individual exam.
The CAS requirement must be met by the spring of the senior year to have consideration
of earning the full IB diploma.
