Policies

Philosophy

IB stresses that the CAS core requirement is not about "ticking off hours" for completion of a task.  All eight CAS Learning Outcomes must be fulfilled.

Creativity means the arts and other experiences that involve creative thinking. 

Action is physical exertion contributing to a healthy lifestyle.

Service is an unpaid and voluntary exhange that has a learning benefit for the student.  The rights, dignity and autonomy of all those involved are respected. 

For student development to occur, CAS should involve:

ALL PROPOSED CAS ACTIVITIES MUST MEET THE ABOVE FOUR CRITERIA.  CAS activities should continue on a regular basis throughout the IB program, that is, 18 months over the IB Prep 9th and 10th grade years and again over the IB 11th and 12th grade years.
