This class offers the
competitive female the opportunity to improve their overall fitness
levels, develop sport specific skills and learn the basics of
nutrition. Students will have the opportunity to improve their
appearance, cardiovascular fitness, strength, muscular endurance,
flexibility and body composition. This course is a conditioning
course using resistance training, weights, circuits, power walking/running,
yoga and pilates. Diet, nutrition and lifestyle issues are discussed
and evaluated. The competitive student will continue to develop
and maintain high levels of physical fitness.

It is the intent of
this course to educate students in implementing a sound fitness
program. Students will learn how to control their personal health
in order to achieve long term well-being. This course focuses
on individualizing the physical education experience and concentrates
on the process and concepts to develop their own personal fitness
program, This class involves both classroom and activity participation.
BEGINNING TEAM SPORTS

This class will incorporate
learning and developing sport specific skills necessary to participate
in team sports, while working towards organized game play. A wide
variety of team activities will be offered during the semester
with an emphasis on active participation to develop components
of lifetime fitness and recreation. Activities include: basketball,
flag football, softball, soccer, floor hockey, volleyball, team
handball, badminton, pickle ball and speed ball.
ADVANCED TEAM SPORTS

wide variety of competitive team activities will be offered during
the semester with an emphasis on active participation to develop
components of lifetime fitness and recreation. Students should
have competency in numerous sport skills and have an understanding
of team sports play. Activities include: basketball flag football,
softball, soccer, floor hockey volleyball, team handball, badminton,
pickle ball and speed ball.
POWER WEIGHT TRAINING
Prerequisite: Weight Training and teacher permission

This course is designed
for athletes and serious lifters. It will emphasize advanced weight
training and techniques. This is a zero hour class and meets every
day from 6:30 to 7:45.

This course emphasizes
the progressive resistive training as a means of improving muscular
strength. The techniques of weight training with emphasis on safety
will be taught. Students will complete the class with a better
understanding of the skeletal and muscular structure of the body.

This class will be offered
starting Fall 2006. Class will be held at Holiday Lanes Bowling
Alley at 7:30 a.m., block 5 only. Students are responsible for
transportation. Students will bowl in a league format, in teams
of 3.
HEALTH SCIENCE
FIRST AID/ CPR

The course is designed
to certify students in First Aid and CPR. Students will demonstrate
skills and knowledge through analysis of case studies, tests,
and hands-on practical exams. Instructional topics will include:
First Aid, CPR, AED (Automated external Defibrillator), human
anatomy and body systems, physiology of trauma, patient assessment,
monitoring of vital signs, and legal and ethical issues in health
care. The course is designed for students preparing for work in
the Law Enforcement, Fire Science, Health care and the Military
Services.
